Portnellan Estate has 19 holiday lodges and cottages set within a privately owned family estate beneath Ben More mountain. The properties range from 1 to 8 bedrooms and sleep 1 to 16 people, each with fully fitted kitchens, hotel-grade mattresses, and Egyptian cotton bed linen. Accommodations include traditionally built stone cottages and timber framed lodges with open plan living areas leading to large deckings with garden furniture.
The estate offers rowing boats, kayaks, and paddle boards for use on the lochs, along with wild salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river. A games room is available with table tennis, pool table, and table football. For group dining, a BBQ hutte seating up to 16 people can be hired, offering a real fire BBQing experience regardless of weather.
Portnellan is situated 2 km from the village of Crianlarich within the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, a 90-minute drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow. The location is the starting point for Ben More, the highest mountain south of Ben More in the UK, and provides access to Glencoe, Oban, Loch Lomond, and Killin within short drives. The village of Crianlarich has a train station for car-free exploration, connecting to Oban and Fort William.
Children have access to a games room, an extensive DVD library, and a selection of board games on-site. Pets are allowed throughout the estate, including in the self-catering properties. Bird feeders outside some lodges attract birds and red squirrels, adding to the wildlife experience.
A small visitor's centre on the estate offers local organic meat and local produce for purchase. Guests can pre-arrange food deliveries from local producers, delivered to the lodge before arrival. The BBQ hutte allows for outdoor cooking with a real fire, complementing the fully equipped kitchens in each lodge.
