The Shepherds Hut is a self-contained one-bedroom chalet in Compton Dando, with a pull-down bed, a kitchen, and a shower with a heated floor. Hosts Duncan and Helen supply wood and kindling for the indoor log burner and outdoor firepit, and leave milk, jam, honey, tea, and cooking oil in the kitchen. The property is the only hut on site, placed at the end of the garden with views over fields and sightings of rabbits, pheasants, and deer.
The chalet has a sun terrace, a picnic area, and an outdoor fireplace, with outdoor furniture and a veranda for sitting outside. The garden includes a firepit positioned to watch the sunset. The grounds are private and surrounded by nature, with the local pub a few minutes' walk away.
The hut sits in Compton Dando, 18 km from Bristol Airport, 7 km from Stanton Drew Stone Circles, and 13 km from Bath Abbey. Bath and Bristol are each about a 20-minute drive away. The Bath/Bristol cycle path provides a route between the two cities.
On site, the hut has board games and puzzles, an outdoor fireplace, and a picnic area. The property lists bike tours, walking tours, darts, mini golf, and a golf course among its activities. The pub in Compton Dando is a short stroll through the field and serves food.
