Overview

Self-catering holiday cottage on a working farm in Dingestow

Amenities

The cottage is situated on a rural farm with a duck pond and resident swans, ducks, chickens, horses, and sheep. Guests receive a welcome hamper with fresh bread, eggs, and milk from the farm. The property has a wood burner, a sun terrace, and a washing machine for longer stays.

Location

Oaklands Cottage is 18 km from St Briavel's Castle and 19 km from Tintern Abbey. The A40 road is nearby, but the cottage faces away from it, keeping noise levels low. Bristol Airport is 73 km away, and the Forest of Dean and Brecon Beacons are within a short drive.

One-Bedroom House

The cottage has one bedroom with an extra-large, comfortable bed and a spacious upstairs layout. The living area includes a log burner, a dining table, and a work desk. The kitchen is fully fitted, and the bathroom includes a washing machine.

Pet-Friendly Policies

Pets are allowed, and the patio area is secure enough for dogs, though larger dogs may escape with persistence. Baby safety gates are provided, and the farm setting offers direct access to countryside footpaths. Guests must notify the host about a dog, and a small fee is payable on arrival.

Guest Experience Highlights

The hosts, Jane and Peter, meet guests on arrival and are described as friendly and helpful. The property is clean, well-equipped, and spacious, with excellent communication via a personalised webpage. Guests note the peaceful location and easy access to local walks, pubs, and attractions like Symonds Yat.
