Chestnut Farm Holiday Cottages - Self-catering farm cottages in the Derbyshire Dales
Chestnut Farm Holiday Cottages offers four self-catering holiday homes with private check-in and check-out. Each property includes a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave, a washing machine, and a walk-in shower with free toiletries. Guests receive a welcome pack that includes a bottle of wine, milk, biscuits, and essentials, plus underfloor heating in some cottages.
The cottages range from one-bedroom houses for couples to three-bedroom barn conversions suitable for large groups or families. The three-bedroom barn offers two en-suite bathrooms, a large dining table, and a spacious lounge with a huge couch. Some properties feature spiral staircases and steep stairs, so guests with mobility needs should check room details.
The farm sits in a quiet location just outside Bonsall, 16 km from Chatsworth House and 4.9 km from Gulliver's Kingdom. The village of Bonsall is a 15-minute walk downhill and has two pubs serving food, including The Barley Mow which offers a DJ on some nights. East Midlands Airport is 52 km away, and the area is rated highly for its quietness and convenience to Matlock, Bakewell, Ashbourne, and Carsington Water.
Each cottage provides board games, puzzles, DVDs, and books, with some properties offering toys and Easter eggs for children. Guests can visit the small farm holding on-site to see and feed pigs, chickens, and sheep. The cottages also include a children's welcome pack and outdoor furniture for family meals.
Pets are allowed in the cottages, and guests receive a lockbox code for keyless entry around 3:45pm on arrival. The hosts provide clear directions to the farm and are available for questions via email or text throughout the stay. The property is non-smoking throughout and has fire extinguishers and smoke alarms for safety.
“This spot offers a wonderfully calm retreat, embracing the British countryside with serenity. The cottages themselves are spacious and modern, thoughtfully equipped for comfort, while remaining conveniently situated for exploring the Peak District. It strikes me as a place where every detail, from the welcoming touches to clear instructions, is managed with genuine care.”
